WHY START A COMMUNITY GARDEN?
Building a Community Garden is important to our community and our school because it can impact the community in three specific areas: Health & Wellness, Civic Engagement & Leadership, and Education: STEM & College Access. In the Greater Los Angeles Area, children are exposed to many environmental and human factors that affect their communities. Pollution, an excess of street trash, smog, and our drought are affecting the overall health of children. Constructing a Community Garden will provide a healthy resource, in multiple ways. The challenge is to sustain a garden with these environmental factors.
